Summary of how to use Transit
1. Open (or receive a project, *.pxf)
As described above, select Receive and external project when you first open a project.
Select a pxf file to receive.
Then you will see the window as shown below:
If you press Save, your new project will be saved in the following path:
To start translation, you need to open sub files in Transit one by one. To do this, please go to File
> Open >Language Pair…. You will see the window as shown below:
Now you can open any of the sub files in the list, and start translation.
If you open one in the file, the view will be as follows:
English window
Japanese window (translation window)
You can start translation or editing as you do in Microsoft Word file or html files in the
translation window (here, Japanese window)
For translators:
1. Add your translation and press Alt+Insert to move to next untranslated segement. Once
you press Alt+Insert, "*" will be added to the current finished segemnt. So any segment
with "*" at the segment number means a human translator tranlated it and confirmed
manually.
2. When you press Alt+Insert, all auto-translated segment marked with "+" at the segment
number will be skipped.
3. If you are asked to review those pre-translation, you will need to go back and check it by
using Arrow keys.
For editors:
Use Arrow keys to move across segments.
Any segment with "*" at the segment number means a human translator (in the 1st
translation phase) translated it and confirmed manually.
All auto-translated segment is marked with "+" at the segment number. Check with
your project manager if those are to be reviewed by you, and you will get paid.
IMPORTANT: before proceeding you should know the following:
1. Every translation unit or segment has its segment number at the end of it.
For example: <1+>, <2*> …
When you send any query to us, please refer to this segment number.
2. The files contain lots of tags, so all tags need to be displayed fully for the translator to identify
the correct of words while translating. So please make your both windows display as full tag
view. To do this, please select one window (English window or Japanese window). Go to View >
Display/Hide Attributes… You will see the window as shown below.
Ensure that Display full segment markers and Display full tags are selected.
Do the same thing to the other window to display the full tag view.
3. To change the order of tags (because the order of words is different between English and
Japanese), you will want to move tags in Japanese window. To do this, deactivate tag protection
in Japanese window only as follows:
4. You can check the integritiy of tags after finishing translation because you may suspect you
changed tags incorrectly or missed, or added mistakenly. Transit will check for you easily. To do
this, go to Options > Check Formatting Codes > Start Checking, or you can use the button:
5. To send your translation, go to Project > Send, and give a name for the file. And deliver TXF
file. |
